GET “TFOH”: Nail Bar in Midtown Miami Burglarized After Thieves Use Stolen Car To Bash In Doors

A popular Midtown Miami nail spa was burgled Sunday morning by thieves who used a stolen white sedan to bash in the salon’s front doors, then left the vehicle on the sidewalk.

Miami Police officer Ricardo Chavez said the incident at Nail Bar at 3301 NE 1st Avenue was not only captured on the salon’s security cameras, but was witnessed by residents of a neighboring high-rise who woke on hearing the commotion.

“According to a couple of neighbors, about 6:30 a.m. they heard a crash,” Chavez said. “They saw three guys covered up in black [masks]. They hit it twice, they went in a grabbed the ATM machine, carried it to another car, and took off.”

Nail Bar’s owners told police they had canceled the ATM service the week before and estimated it only contained about $300, but owner Desiree Parth said the thieves also made off with her computer system and items from her front desk. She said Nail Bar had been burglarized about four months previously, with thieves making off with the salon’s signature iPads when an employee accidentally left the door open. Now, she said, the iPads are hidden in another location.

“I have no words to express [how it feels to be victimized,” said Parth, who was woken by a phone call from her alarm company. “You see this around and you never imagine it would happen here.”

Police said the car used in the robbery was stolen from a house on NW 47th Avenue sometime after its owner returned home at 5 a.m. She didn’t realize it was gone until police called from the scene.

“She came in at 5 o’clock in the morning and parked the car,” Chavez said, “so she was sleeping heavily.”
