Beyoncé Knowles gave the public a sneak peek of her Super Bowl halftime performance with a press conference in New Orleans earlier today. At the start of the Q&A, Beyonce asked the press room to stand so she could sing “The Star-Spangeld Banner” Beyoncé didn’t stray from addressing the Inauguration controversy during the press conference, answering multiple questions about her lip-synching. She said, “I am a perfectionist and one thing about me I practice until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra [at the Inauguration]. It was a very important, emotional show for me. Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper soundcheck, I didn’t feel comfortable [performing live]. It’s very common in the music industry to sing with a prerecorded track and I am very proud of my performance.” As for her halftime performance, Beyoncé told the press that she will “absolutely” sing live. She added, “This is what I was born to do.”

There had been lots of speculation leading up to the press conference that Beyoncé would reunite with Destiny’s Child onstage for a special performance. She didn’t say outright that the group would be performing together at the NFL Championship but she didn’t exactly deny that they were joining up together again. When asked about the reunion, Beyoncé laughed, “I can’t really give you any details.” However, she did note that recording a new track with the group for their new release, Love Songs made her “feel like a teenager again.”
