GETWhipped: Daimler to Pull the Plug on Maybach Brand in 2013

An unnamed, high-ranking Mercedes employee told Autoweek that the Maybach brand will cease to be in 2013. Instead of continuing to try and prod the 57 and 62 in a market dominated by Rolls-Royce and Bentley Mercedes plans to add an old variant of the S-Class back into the lineup. A longer wheelbase, extra luxurious Pullman S600 will be offered in Maybach’s stead.

Since the Mercedes-Benz brand has much better brand recognition than Maybach ever had or ever could, we think this is probably a good move.
