Jill Scott closed out the first day of Jazz in the Gardens and gave festival-goers more than their money’s worth with a nearly two hour performance. She looked as radiant as ever rocking a retro look with a perfectly coiffed Afro. The passion she gave to her performance is unparallelled as every note she sang – whether romantic, excitement or otherwise – genuinely shone through on her gorgeous face. Despite some of the explicit scenes described in her lyrics, Scott even seemed to blush when two of her male background singers came out and serenaded her with Jodeci’s “Feenin.'” Scott also surprised the crowd by singing a verse in Spanish of a song in which she was giving thanks for all with which she has been blessed – definitely a treat and one of the many highlights of her awe-inspiring performance.
